RAINBOW Magic

Ruby the Red Fairy                  A new discovery

Rachel and her best friend Kirsty discover a pot-at-the-end-of-the-rainbow bag and experience something extremely extravagant...

Chapter 1
Beachy Vibes

On a lovely, summer day, Rachel Walker and Kirsty Smith were strolling down a tropical beach in Rain-spell Island.
‘’I wonder what we could do. It’s such a warm sunny day today.’’ Rachel mentioned.
‘’Oh! I have an idea! We could do a mini shell contest!’’ Kirsty suggested.
‘’I love that idea! Let’s go near there.’’ Rachel responded, pointing a bit to the north where shimmering shells were standing there on the smooth golden sand.
A few short seconds later, they have reached the section of shells.
‘’Should we start?’’ Kirsty asked.
‘’Sure thing!’’ Rachel said.

Rachel created a countdown. ‘’Five! Four! Three! Two! and... One!’’
Then, as fast as lightning, Rachel started to pick up the glistening seashells which were shining like real diamonds.
‘’Hold on, you didn’t say ‘GO!’’ Kirsty added.
‘’Oopsies! Let’s start again.’’ Rachel said as she dropped 24 shells that she had collected.
‘’Alright! Three Two One, GO!’’ Kirsty yelled.
And before you saw it, they were speeding like fire, gently picking up the seashells.
A few short minutes later, they stopped at 5 minutes approximately. 5 minutes and 32 seconds, to be precise.
‘’Let’s count them now’’ Rachel said.
‘’I’ve got 36 shells. You?’’ Kirsty called out.
‘’36 too!’’ Rachel replied.
‘’It’s a tie!’’ They both squeaked. ‘’Wait, it’s starting to rain!’’ Rachel sighed as she felt a droplet touch her silky blonde hair. ‘’I feel it too. We’d better get going.’’

Chapter 2
A Rainbow Adventure
‘’How about we fetch our parasols and see if there is a pot of gold bag at the end of the rainbow?’’ Rachel asked, glaring at the new rainbow ahead of them.
‘’There’s a rainbow? Wow! Okay! That sounds magical to me!’’ Kirsty replied, grinning at Rachel. Rachel grinned back to her best friend.
‘’Shall we go ask our parents and let them know we’re going? The last thing I want is for us to get lost and our parents to think we are!’’ Kirsty squealed.
Within a blink of an eye, they raced back up to the path that leads to the rainbow’s end. Kirsty felt a bit sad that the rainbow was starting to fade, but it was okay since it was still raining.

So now they were just 5 metres away from their destination. They carried their matching umbrellas carefully, as they were sequined and if one of the umbrellas fell, most of the sequins would fall off.
‘’Finally! We’re here!’’ Rachel panted, out of breath. ‘’Indeed we are!’’ Kirsty huffed, placing her hand on her chest. Little did they know, there was a pot of gold bag right beside Rachel’s right foot. ‘’Rachel, what’s that beside your foot?’’ Kirsty asked, glaring at the mysterious, black pot.
‘’Where?’’ Rachel questioned, looking beneath her, left and right.
‘’I think she means me...’’ A soft and twinkling voice echoed, which strangely seemed coming from the pot of gold bag.

‘’OMG!’’ The two girls gasped, feeling startled. Then, within a very short period of time, Rachel plucked up the courage to say, ’Hello..? A-Anyone there?’’ Still in hold of Kirsty’s arm.
’Wait’ Kirsty mumbled as she walked over to the pot of gold bag.
She opened the bag and found red, glimmering sparkles inside. Kirsty coughed twice. ‘’What’s in there?’’ Rachel asked as she crept beside Kirsty.
Then they both saw wings fluttering. ‘’Mightn’t it be a butterfly?’’ Kirsty queried. ‘’I doubt it. Butterflies don’t hide in dark places and talk.’’ Rachel responded.
The winged creature flew up, about the same level as Rachel’s hand. ‘’Why, hello!’’ The creature greeted.

The girls gasped again. ‘’Am I dreaming??’’ Kirsty asked, while her brain went BUZZZ!
‘’You are not.’’ The creature affirmed. It was a fairy!! ‘’Are fairies even real?!’’ Rachel asked a rhetorical question. Kirsty turned her head and shook it, signalling ‘I don’t know!’. ‘’You see, if you believe in magic, it will happen.’’ The small fairy replied. ‘’But- But..’’ Rachel muttered, but words couldn’t come out.
‘’Rachel. I think it’s time we stopped glaring at the fairy and actually talk to her.’’ Kirsty suggested and craned her neck at Rachel, who still had her mouth dangling open, showing her white teeth. ‘’Oh! Okay.’’
‘’So, where do you come from?’’ Kirsty asked. ‘’I come from over there.’’ The fairy spoke softly and pointed her wand near the girl’s shed. Both girls stopped and looked at where the fairy’s wand pointed at.

‘’Rain-spell Island’s Secret Kingdom.’’ The fairy continued. ‘’Name, Ruby the Red Fairy.’’
‘’Nice name!’’ Rachel exclaimed. ‘’But, why in tarnation are you hiding in a dark pot?’’
‘’You see, we’re having some kind of trouble in our kingdom. Some enemies of ours have been trying to take over our land, and we’ve all been transported to areas which fairies won’t really go to.’’ The kind fairy explained while she was tapping her wand on her tiny hand.

‘’We can help! Yet our parents would be wondering where we would be, and then they’ll start looking for us.’’ Kirsty offered.
‘’Oh, thank you so much, girls! Don’t worry, time in the real human world will stand by while you’re in our kingdom.’’ Ruby reassured.
The girls both ran a sigh of relief. Phew!
‘’We’d better get going then!’’ Rachel squeaked as she skipped a few metres down the path. ‘’Wait! You will need to be disguised.’’ Ruby paused.
Then Rachel skipped back to the girls and plastered a big, bright smile on her face. Meanwhile Ruby muttered a few words and soon the girls appeared to be the same size as her, with wings as delicate as gold and wands that matched their outfits. ‘’Woah! This feels so weird...!’’

‘’But cool!’’ Rachel yelled as she started to stare at the ginormous trees, which seemed like flowers to her due to her size. ‘’Girls, you must keep this a secret. We don’t want anybody we don’t know about hogging our kingdom.’’ Ruby explained. ‘’Deal?’’ ‘’Deal!’’ The girls exclaimed.

‘’Let’s get a move on!’’

Chapter 3
The Secret Kingdom

‘’Wow! This place is amazing, Ruby!’’ Kirsty flabbergasted in awe. ‘’Thank you, Kirsty!’’ Ruby replied.
And there stood a four-turret castle, in a shade of pastel rose and blossomed yellow. They had eight windows and white doves on each shelf, symbolising the King and Queen’s everlasting love. There happened to be a party, too. Royale butlers were carrying dishes all around the grass grounds, an elf band playing a weird type of music (later on you’ll know why...), a dance troupe dancing fiercely and a feast going on near the dance troupe.
‘’Uhm, Ruby, is this the type of music you have in fairyland?’’ Rachel wondered, feeling somewhat regretful as that was slightly harsh.

Kirsty nudged her gently, as if to say, stop it! Or, excuse you!
‘’OW! That hurts!’’ ‘’That’s a bit rude you know?’’ ‘’I don’t care!’’ ‘’You will when I will turn you into a pig!’’
And they carried on. ‘’They’re not seeming normal. Wait! That’s probably because of Jack Frost’s spell! It must be contagious! I need to fix this!’’ Ruby thought.
‘’Girls, I’ll explain everything.’’ Ruby wailed as she signalled them to follow her.
Then she explained what was happening, and the girls forgave each other. ‘’We must break this spell!’’ Rachel asserted firmly. ‘’I’ve got an idea..!’’ Kirsty exclaimed.

The girls followed her into the dungeons of the castle, where storage is kept. ‘’Why are we here?’’ Ruby spouted. ‘’So I can tell you my plan, DUH!’’
She secretly told the girls her plan. And therefore, I can’t tell any mean person out there, but I can tell you.

Her plan was to distract the evil Jack Frost while the two other girls would simply spy on the goblins. Each of them are rather identical, so it would be tricky. They had to look for a special gem, one of the elements towards the sixth element to stop this fuss. The elements are (1) Friendship
(2) Anger (3) Courage (4) Annoyance (5) Violence (6) The Cure

‘’Great idea, Kirsty! If we hadn’t moved to here, we would have still be fighting!’’ Rachel praised. ‘’Which should mean the goblins are close... QUICK!’’
Ruby gasped.

Jack Frost and one of his Goblins

Chapter 4
Rachel and Kirsty to the rescue!

The girls flew as fast as their delicate wings could take them. Ruby and Rachel went out behind a large bush and Kirsty followed them.

‘’Careful girls, you could start arguing at any time.’’ Ruby warned.
‘’Ruby, could you please create a location spell on the goblins so that we know where they are?’’ Kirsty asked.
‘’I’ll try’’ She responded.

‘’From what we see and all our might,
Let the pesky goblins be in our sight!’’

‘’Wow! I feel like I can see them now!’’ Kirsty whisper -shouted.
‘’Off you go! Good luck!’’ Ruby and Rachel bellowed.
Moments later, Kirsty vanished. Ruby and Rachel flew behind a tree near the music station. ‘’It seems like they’re disguised!’’ Ruby found out.
‘’Wow! I see something glowing in that goblin’s pocket!’’ Rachel pointed out. ‘’How about you transform me back into my normal size and I can pretend that Jack Frost has sent me here to help them out? I don’t look like a fairy, do I?’’
‘’Great idea! And no, you don’t look like a fairy.’’ Ruby replied.
Ruby then muttered a spell under her breath. Sooner than she thought, Rachel was back to her normal size!
Ruby gave her a thumbs up, as if to say, ‘’Good luck!’’

Rachel went off near the music area and told the goblins that Jack Frost sent her. The goblins actually believed her and one said, ‘’At least you aren’t one of those pesky, frilly- willy fairies!’’ ‘’I heard that you are trying to hide an element from those fairies. I can really take care of it! I promise!’’ Rachel proclaimed.
The goblins glared at each other for a moment. Then a goblin affirmed, ‘Okay, okay. But promise you will not do anything to it.’’
‘’Cross my heart and touch the sky, I will keep it on my eye!’’ Rachel promised, well, not really! 😊
Soon after, she took the Friendship element and pretended to go back to Jack Frost’s Ice Castle, but Ruby watched everything and transported her back behind the bush.
‘’Oops, let me just-‘’ Ruby mentioned as she turned Rachel back into a fairy. ‘’There.’’
‘’I got the element!’’ Rachel squealed quietly. Then Kirsty arrived beside Rachel. ‘’Oh, hello Kirsty! Where have you been? I thought you were distracting them!’’ Rachel questioned, still keeping the element hidden. ‘’I tried to take the element down by myself, although since I was fairy- size, it was too heavy for me.’’ Kirsty replied as she gulped a bottle of water.
‘’Oh okay! Well, since I am not going to return the element to the goblins, they’ll be looking for it!’’ Rachel justified. ‘’Don’t worry, Rachel, I’ll cause a forgetting spell on them.’’ Ruby sighed.

‘’Oh, yay! Thank you, Rachel!’’ Kirsty and Ruby thanked. ‘’No problem!’’ Rachel responded, beaming with pleasure. ‘’I shall tell Queen Titania and King Oberon that you saved the day!’’ Ruby urged.
She took the element from Rachel’s pocket and flew over to her mother and father, also known as King and Queen. Soon, she returned with a wooden box carved with unicorns, fairies, flowers, and many more magical beings! ‘’This is a magic box, where you will get my sisters’ messages to help. You will be transported immediately to the Abstruse Kingdom and save the day again!’’ Ruby explained. ‘’I think it’s time you’ve gone home as well.’
‘’True! Transport us back, please!’’ Kirsty pleaded. Instantly after they found themselves in a red whirlwind, holding hands.

Chapter 5
An end to a lovely adventure!

They landed with a gentle BUMP! On the soft grass, back to their normal size again, and back into the normal world. Kirsty placed the Magic Box carefully into a beach bag. They both shared smiles full of remarkable memories, and they returned home exhausted yet full of joy.

‘’That was mind blowing! Your plan worked perfectly, bestie!’’ Rachel praised. ‘’Thank you! I truly hope we have more adventures and discoveries awaiting us...’’ Kirsty added. ‘’SOON!’’ They said together and laughed until their sides hurt.

The End 😊
